Dell Computers Equipment Warranty and Replacement Guide

Overview

Dell computers, including laptops, desktops, and monitors, have a three-year standard warranty. This warranty covers hardware failures but does not cover wear and tear or accidental damage.

Accidental Damage and Wear & Tear

Accidental damage refers to user-caused damage, such as:

  • Cracked screens or LCDs
  • Cracked computer casing or chassis

Wear and tear are treated the same as accidental damage. Replacement parts for accidental damage and wear & tear are paid by OIT under CC445000.

Ordering Replacement Parts for Accidental Damage

  1. Obtain a Quote – Contact the Dell Sales Representative for a price estimate.
  2. Request Purchase – Submit the quote to OIT’s designated purchaser to order the part.

Docking Stations & Peripherals

  • Docking stations are covered under a three-year warranty, even though they are ordered separately from laptops.
  • To request a replacement docking station, use the Dell laptop service tag when placing an order.
